Short Film Forms Competition – Hommage à Kieslowski 2024
Hommage à Kieslowski 2024 announces a call for entries for the first edition of the Short Film Forms Competition, which will be held as part of the 13th edition of the Hommage à Kieslowski festival in Sokolowsk. Film submissions are accepted until July 31, 2024.
The theme of this year’s competition is “We must help each other.” The festival this year focuses on the idea of help and mutual support, encouraging filmmakers to portray current and socially important issues in their films and to promote activities that move from theory to practice in helping.
Each year, the program of the Sokolowsk festival is centered around an important thought relating to the values that the festival seeks to particularly nurture and that are part of the “philosophy of social attentiveness” of its patron, the outstanding director Krzysztof Kieslowski. This year, in creating the event’s film program, the organizers focused on the slogan “We must help each other.” It’s a thought of universal power that focuses not only on the urgent need to spread help, but also on the related actual actions, moving into practice.
Students and graduates of Polish film schools, students of art faculties such as the new media department of the Academy of Fine Arts, and film studies students at universities are invited to participate in the competition. Independently, any filmmaker regardless of age can enter the competition. The competition includes short film forms, including feature films, documentaries and animations, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes. The condition for participation is also that the films were made within the last 12 months.
Attractive financial prizes await the best films. The Grand Prix is PLN 3,000 (gross), and there will also be two awards of PLN 1,500 (gross) each. The festival jury, consisting of prominent representatives of the film industry, will evaluate the submitted works and select the winners.

The competition is a chance to present your film during the Hommage à Kieslowski festival in Sokolowsk on August 23-25, 2024 and jointly promote the value of social attentiveness, inspired by the work of Krzysztof Kieslowski.
