We are honored to be a part of the 50th edition of Letní filmová škola Uherské Hradiště! Thanks to our Polish-Czech cooperation, we showed Krzysztof Kieslowski’s “Transparency” there. On August 1, we showed the film in the Czech Republic with a special participation of the speaker filmmaker Diana Dabrowska and the director of the Czech Center Petr Vlck, but soon (August 23-25) you will be able to watch it at the festival in Sokolowsk!
The subject of Krzysztof Kieslowski’s documentary is the psyche of people suffering from tuberculosis, staying for treatment far from their homes and loved ones. The working title of the project was “To return as soon as possible,” and fully reflected the desires of the protagonists reporting their pains before the camera. The shooting was carried out, among other places, in Sokolowsk and around the municipality of Mieroszow. As we well know, Kieslowski spent his childhood and early youth in these very regions. and it is here that we have been organizing a festival dedicated to him for more than a decade. On the occasion of the film’s 50th anniversary, “Transparency” was shown in the Czech Republic with Czech subtitles (the 50th edition of the Letní filmová škola in Uherského Hradiště); and at this year’s Hommage a Kieślowski we invite you to meet the director’s close collaborators, Jacek Petrycki (cinematographer) and Krzysztof “Dziob” Wierzbinski (directorial cooperation).
