Maciejewski Lukasz

A native of Tarnów, film scholar, film and theater critic. Member of the European Film Academy, the International Association of Theater Critics (“AICT”) and the Federation of Film Critics (“Fipresci”). Two-time winner of the Polish Film Institute Award: in the category “best critic” (2019), “book of the year” (2018), four times nominated for this award.

Program director of the festivals“Cinema on the Border” in Cieszyn, Grand Prix Komeda in Ostrow Wielkopolski, “Alchemy of Cinema” in Zamosc, curator of the International Film Festival “Tofifest” in Torun.

Lecturer at the Acting Department of the Film School in Lodz, juror at several hundred national and international film festivals (including Montreal, Busan, Karlovy Vary, Cottbus), moderator and organizer of several hundred film events.

In 2018, he received the Art-Thumb Award for “outstanding man of the institution,” as well as the “Polonia Minor” medal awarded by the Marshal of the Malopolska Region for his contribution to the dissemination of culture in Malopolska.

Long-time script expert for the Polish Film Institute, Krakow Film Comission and Mazovia Film Comission. Originator and organizer of author cycles: “Cinema Behind the Corner” and “Actresses in Bielany” (Warsaw), “Film Magiel” (Wroclaw), ” Lukasz Maciejewski’s Guests” (Tarnow), “Restored Masterpieces” (Krakow), moderator of “Koneser Cinema” in Konin.

Ambassador of the “Accessible Culture in Cinemas” campaign, he runs the “Millennium” cinema in the Mościce Art Center in Tarnow.

Author of many books (including a bilingual Polish-English album “End of the World of Values. Conversations with Krystian Lupa”, “The Adventure of Thought”, “Everything is Slightly Strange” – an interview-thriller with Jerzy Radziwiłowicz, “Flirting with Life” – an interview-thriller with Danuta Stenka, “Actresses. Encounters”, “Actresses. Portraits”, “Actresses. Discoveries”), a regular contributor to more than a dozen magazines, reviewer and columnist for Onet and Lodz’s “Kaleidoscope”, regular commentator for “Tygodnik Kulturalny” on TVP Kultura, author of the series “From the armchair of Lukasz Maciejewski” (portal of the International Association of Theater Critics).

Winner of many journalistic awards and honors: including the statuette “Uskrzydlony”, “Journalist’s Vena” and “Golden Rose” for “new quality in film criticism”, five times nominated for the title of “Man of the Year of Malopolska”.
