Maciej Hamela

Maciej Hamela – Film and radio producer, director, screenwriter. Born in Warsaw, he graduated in French literature from the Sorbonne (Paris IV). While studying film directing at École Internationale de Création Audiovisuelle et de Réalisation (EICAR), he worked on construction sites, as a tour guide in Paris and at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Long-time contributor to the BBC Channel. Co-creator and producer of the short documentary film “Greetings,” which won the Doc Alliance Award as part of the Cannes Docs section at the Cannes Film Festival (2021) and was presented at the Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival. Producer of such titles as “Convictions” (MDR Award for Best Documentary from Eastern Europe at Dok Leipzig 2016), “Gatherers of Sea Grass,” “Polonaise” and “Parquet.” Director and producer of radio pieces – he received the Silver Melchior Award for Premier of the Year 2018 in the National Competition of Polish Radio Reporters. Co-author and producer of “Plan B,” a series of documentary podcasts for Audioteka.
