“X-Ray” / dir. Krzysztof Kieślowski / documentary / 1974 / 12 min.

The subject of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s documentary is the psyche of people suffering from tuberculosis, undergoing treatment far from their homes and loved ones. The working title of the project was “Return as Soon as Possible,” which fully reflected the desires of the subjects as they shared their struggles on camera. The footage was shot in places such as Sokołowsko and the Mieroszów municipality. Kieślowski spent his childhood and youth in these regions. To mark the 50th anniversary of the film, a festival event will feature a meeting with the director’s close collaborators, Jacek Petrycki (cinematography) and Krzysztof “Dziob” Wierzbiński (directorial collaboration).
